Meet John

John Wahl is a lifelong resident of Alabama, a devoted Christian, and a passionate conservative leader dedicated to protecting the values that make Alabama great. From his humble beginnings on his family’s farm in Limestone County to becoming one of the youngest and most effective Republican leaders in the country, John Wahl’s story is a testament to faith, hard work, and a deep love for this state.

Born in Athens and raised in rural north Alabama, John grew up immersed in the values of faith, family, and freedom. He learned early the importance of hard work and personal responsibility while helping on the family farm. A lifelong outdoorsman, he enjoys hunting, fishing, hiking, and has traveled to all 50 states.

While still in high school, John turned a passion into a business—launching what would become one of the nation’s largest professional butterfly farms located in western Limestone County. His farm supplies over 50,000 butterflies annually to exhibits across North America. His work has been featured in multiple national outlets, and he has served on the board of directors for the International Butterfly Breeders Association. John often describes butterfly farming as “one of the most beautiful job opportunities,” contrasting it with the intensity of political life.

But politics has always been a calling. As a teenager, John was already knocking on doors for Republican candidates. He went on to become a grassroots leader, and led multiple conservative groups that stood for lower taxes and limited government. In 2012, he was selected to serve as Field Director for the Alabama Republican Party, and just two years later was elected to its State Executive Committee. Over the next decade, he rose through the ranks—ultimately becoming Chairman of the Alabama Republican Party in 2021.

As Chairman, John brought fresh energy and a bold vision. He raised over $7.5 million for the Party—setting records for fundraising and event attendance, including the largest political event in Alabama history with the Cullman Trump Rally. He has been a consistent ally of President Donald Trump and organized efforts in the 2024 Trump campaign that raised over $2 million and deployed volunteers that knocked on more than 100,000 doors in critical swing states. Under his leadership, the Party has seen unprecedented success—picking up 90 seats across Alabama, building the largest grassroots network in the state’s history, and championing key conservative causes like tax cuts, election integrity, school choice, and adoption reform.

In 2023, Governor Kay Ivey appointed John to the Alabama Public Library Service (APLS) Board. Recognizing his principled leadership and commitment to conservative values, his fellow board members elected him Chairman in 2024. In this role, John has led the charge to defend Alabama families from radical left-wing ideologies being pushed into public institutions—especially those targeting children. He has been a strong voice for parental rights, community standards, and ensuring that taxpayer-funded institutions reflect the values of Alabama families—not left-wing political activism.

Throughout his career, John has consistently fought for the values that matter most. He believes that public service is not about personal power—but about protecting the freedoms and future of the people of Alabama.

Now, John is running for Lieutenant Governor to take that service to the next level. He is committed to protecting individual liberty, defending constitutional rights, promoting free-market policies, and preserving the conservative values that make Alabama strong.
